HOW DID I GET HERE?

It’s been a long and winding road…

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

I put the “fun” in function.

Most of my professional experience as a UX researcher has been on products meant for “technical” users. Be it financial services, healthcare or even project management solutions, the products I worked on were often a brainchild of several discordant voices in the business, and far removed from the people that would actually use them. More often than not, the expectation was that the users would figure it out and emphasis was put on how the product would function rather than user needs.

As a creative problem solver, I work towards transforming this mere functionality into an experience that is both efficient and enjoyable. This is an outcome of user research - of learning about my users, telling their stories and advocating for their needs. I enjoy collaborating with diverse teams of stakeholders to map these needs to the right business goals so that it’s win-win for everyone.

WHAT DO I WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE?

Go above and beyond.

I’ve discovered a joy in putting together the pieces of context and empathy to make the complex simple. I enjoy problem-solving in cross-disciplinary teams, understanding different businesses and driving collaboration to make good stuff. In other words, I love just doing research and I hope to continue doing it. But looking at the bigger picture, I want to do more. Which is…

Technology is changing just about everything. UX Researchers have a unique preview to this change by observing new people-tech interactions and understanding their implications. It is both my personal and intellectual mission to use this understanding to do good and add value, meaning and joy to human lives. I know that it’s a lofty, if not slightly vague goal and I’m still figuring it out. My interest in the spaces of accessibility, sustainability, education and technology ethics have been great starting points and as I learn more, the bigger questions begin to get a little clearer too. Here’s to driving sustainable growth towards a bright future!

BUT WHO AM I REALLY?

The person inside the researcher…

🇮🇳

I hail from Mumbai, India

My hometown is a thriving metropolis of over 18 million people and truly a playground of diverse experiences. My growing years here planted the seed of fascination with stories, curiosity about human behavior and a desire to be a part of good social change.

📖

I am obsessed with stories

Whether it has come from a book, a movie, a song or a conversation, each story I have encountered has shaped me into the person I am. My favorites are the Harry Potter series, anything by Khaled Hosseini, really old Hindi films, and Indian folklore myths in the words of my great-grandmother.

🌸

Analog over digital

For someone whose bread-and-butter is digital products, it’s ironic that so many things I love live outside screens but what can I say… I find joy in long runs, arts and crafts, the smell of books and coffee, doing jigsaw puzzles with my husband and laughing with my friends and family.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Up for coffee and conversation!

While I am a self-confessed introvert, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know new people over shared interests and passions. Here’s to new, meaningful connections!
